Wordpress SEO

Hi.

When it comes to creating engaging content, do you take notice of the Green Light on Wordpress websites?

As in... having the keyword in your first sentence. Making sure sentence length is good, just to stave off the orange or red light.

Or - is it just better to write naturally and forget about the WP guidelines. Just write engaging content that doesn't stuff keywords etc?

Any advice is greatly welcomed.

It's not WordPress guidelines but those of Yoast and some other SEO plugins. I would say you can use those guidelines to a certain degree but do not become consumed by them. Good quality, natural writing is what your readers want.

Yoast is a good starting point I think, although I've seen plenty of pages that yoast says that the keyword isn't in the first sentence when it plainly is!

So essentially... if you're SEO isn't green, that doesn't mean your SEO is bad, just don't ideal according to Yoast guidelines.

For instance. I don't always want the target keyword/phrase in the first sentence, because it doesn't come naturally to the article.

Here is the funny thing, i guess most of us already know that, but we still become consumed!

However, i'm glad you reiterated this - because from now on i won't even look at the score!

I would still try to aim for green by making sure all the basics are correct. What I meant was that the score does not have to always be 100% correct. If you don't want to have your keyword/phrase as the first word in the first sentence then I'm sure that's not a major problem as long as you have all the other basics sorted.

I would still keep an eye on the green light, what I meant was you do not need to be OCD about always getting 100%.

The new bert algorithim kinda contradicts the green light.. I personally have never paid attention to it and just do my own thing

I'd pay quite close attention to the Yoast traffic light system if you are targeting specific keywords - but I don't take much notice of the readability scores you sometimes see alongside them.

Yoast's "green light" might have some relevance if, it was specifically targeting gambling niches. However, it's not. It targets mainstream SEO. As I've said many times before, while mainstream SEO has some basic similarities, overall, it's a completely different 'fish' to the gambling niche.

Like myself, there are other veteran affiliates (aka old timers) here at the GPWA (and elsewhere), where their years upon years of successful longevity is testament that ALL things SEO, do not start nor end, with Yoast.

As a WP plugin Yoast it's a great tool, but so too are others within our tool-boxes.

My advice...
Follow G requirements and suggestions. Write content as if your telling a 'good' story to a friend, and don't get suckered into the Waa-Waa.

Out of interest, does anyone pay much attention to the 'readability' tab on yoast? Tried to align some pages with the recommendations in the past to get that all green and I can't say it actually enhances the readability a great deal.

I try to align the text in order to improve the readability, and I would agree, shorter sentences sound clearer. Of course the overall text should be as natural as possible.

WP has other plugins and they using another metrics for content. That's why Yoast for me it's just prompt, nothing more. I have my own experience, and competitors in serp. That's best help for goal. In the end I have chosen another plugin.

I sometimes use the all in one seo pack plugin instead of yoast

I have a Wordpress site and use Yoast. I always check the green light system at the end and like the SEO part to be green, sometimes having to remove or insert keyword a few times. It serves a nice reminder as sometimes you may forget something.

I don't pay quite as much attention to readability score as I feel like that it is less valuable. Anyone who can write half well knows if the article reads well or not without massive edits.Just my 2c.

There are a lot of good wp theme for blogs, very optimised for Seo, just some good content articles and everything is done

Hi, SEO is a very important part for the any website or blog. On wordpress Yoast is the best plugin to use for complete SEO coverage.

Yoast is what I can recommend. Even though it has its weird little problems. It doesn't work perfectly with all other plug-ins. Doesn't pick target words in titles neither recognise img tag attributes. But still it is the best SEO plug-in I know.

I like WP, it's easy-to-use ad SEO-optimized platform. The last point is really important and can save a lot of time in the further optimization and promotion
