Wink When did you learn how little you know?

I was completing my profile for GPWA yesterday and writing about how I got started in Affiliate marketing, and that got me started on a walk down memory lane. Though I had been a small time affiliate, I really got my start as an affiliate manager and that is what I know best, now. When I started though, I was very green. My first affiliate came to me asking about a CPC deal? I knew nothing of the Casino industry and even less about being an affiliate manager and was talked into a 0.25 Euro Cent CPC deal. Over the following weekend, that affiliate generated a balance of nearly 2,500 EURO and a single minimum depositor. I of course immediately had to cancel the partnership (and pay the man). Once that was done I took a moment to reflect and discovered that I had no idea what I was doing.

I look back now and laugh, but It got me wondering about others. When did you learn how little you know?

I was a web developer before I started at Rewards. For the first month I had absolutely no idea what I was doing or what an affiliate was.
The job I applied for wanted a coder so that's what I thought I was doing. Although after I started I did very little coding.

11 years later and I'm still here and some days wondering if I still don't know what I'm doing LOL

    Everytime I make mistakes lol.

I remember selling an established website. The new owner just slapped more ads on it but didn't change a thing, and sold it a year later for twice the price.

    Lesson learned

When I first started as a AM (and knew nothing), my 'boss' at the time told me to close the program. So without thinking twice, just I just sent everyone an email and closed it. It wasn't until a few months later when I had a new boss and the first thing he told me to do was open it again and send out any lost earnings that I realised how naive I’d been. So never take your boss’s word as gospel…
