I did a lot of testing about 6 weeks ago on theme/builder combinations...and the fastest (with a blank page) were Astra and Neve both using Gutenberg. Oxygen performed well too, but turned out to be more complicated to use and just on the balance of time needed to build the other two edged it.
In the end I went with Astra and Gutenberg ..and only yesterday Astra released a number of pre-built blocks which are going to help.
That Kadenze looks good though, a shame didn't know about it before otherwise would have included it in testing.
Note - some of the Gutenberg block builder add ons did seem to drop page speed scores just by being installed, not even live. Gutentor being one of them.

Big fan of the Kadence theme here (converted from Astra) - both for the theme and for the blocks extensions, I gather Genesis would be similar. I personally will not use page builders like Elementor anymore, far too much bloat.
Personally not a fan of niche themes for gambling, but Dinomatic is the best I've seen and the only one that embraces blocks.

I'd vouch for Dino as well. It's not just the design, but the code beneath it as well. Add to that incredible support in terms of speed of the reply and the accuracy with which your question is answered and solved.
I wasn't a fan of blocks until MJM made me try them, and I'm never going back. To me the old html days are gone, and the gap is only going to grow bigger.
I'd say whatever you choose go with something that embraces blocks natively, no 3rd party builders or anything. Those that have done it properly won't reduce your page scores at all.
I can also recommend Dinomatic themes. Levon is lightning fast when it comes to support!
Dinomatic's themes and plugins are another level products with a detailed back-end development and specific solutions. Excellent choice for new and experienced webmasters! Say hellooooo, Levon )))))
Astra with elementor pro - fast / easy to build both
Used only news-related themes + Poka. Works well for me.

Love the Mercury theme.
I use the Hello Theme from and with Elementor. It's very lightweight and Elementor is a great page builder. However, you might have cleaner/faster HTML output not using a site builder at all.
I'm using Poka after recommendations here. Can anyone actually help with how to set a category on news items?
It should in theory work something like this?

I have done some testing with Poka also, and it does have some advantages for those that like to use a prebuilt interface and turnkey solution.
I have also recently been testing Neve, and 2nd a vote on that one, and in early testing see that it was pretty fast.
Based upon some of the suggestions will try to dedicate a test run of Astra in the near future.

I'm a big fan of Mercury, but as I see more sites using it I have gone to building from scratch.
I use Newspaper theme from TagDiv but now that I looked at the Dinomatic ones, I'm considering a change...
The theme I use is "The THOR".
It is excellent for SEO and has a fast and appropriate display speed.
It is a paid theme, but it is easy to use and easy to customize.
I recommend it!
I chose mercury for my first public project. I didn’t regret it. They have a great support service and it's cool.
