Veteran's Day is celebrated on the 11th of November, and is a national holiday to commemorate members of the armed forces who were killed during war. Outside of the United States, it is also celebrated as Armistice Day or Remembrance Day, the anniversary of the signing of the armistice that ended WWI. This armistice with Germany officially took effect at 11:00 a.m. on November 11th - hence the phrase "the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month."
