PR update

Hello guys!

My client sent me sites with PR that differs from previous meaning. My sites that had PR -1, have PR now. It seems that PR was updated today or what's going on?
There are still no official statement about it!

Please check your sites and share your thoughts about it!

This must be a breaking story, as I've seen nothing to suggest a PR update - not on my sites, not on twitter, not on the popular and regularly updated search engine blogs, SEO blogs, or in SEO forums. Glad to see you're running with the breaking news.

It s true. My site pariusigur.com now has a pagerank3. In the past was pagerank0. Thanks Maria678.

Looks like it has indeed updated. Doesn't affect me in the slightest though - I think it's only people that sell links that care about PR these days...

Just checked, we have dropped down 1. That's the penalty for neglecting to putting content on regularly.
Won't make the same mistake again.

Just checked! I went up to 3 and haven't updated it in yonks. I don't do any link building either, never did.

Woohoo yes! First PR update since I've launched a bunch of sites. For whatever it's worth I'm still happy, the main site I launched around 5-6 months ago has gone from PR0 to PR2 so I'm happy with that.

That took some time to do this update. But it is not so important anymore. Multiple of my sites went from PR0 to PR2 and PR3.

Yep - definitely had an update and all my site fared well. One funny thing showing PR really doesn't matter a whole lot is my one site went from 0 to 3 but after the last update my traffic was cut by about 75%. So while Google felt it doesn't deserve to get good traffic it gave it a PR3 from a PR0.

A few of my sites moved up the pr ladder, but I don't see any improvement in the serps. Maybe that'll happen later

Here is my theory on PR which seems to be true for all the sites I've done - the actual PR shown is only for us webmasters as a guide to where we are at with Google.

Google already knows where we are at, it's just giving us a little update, so you might have been considered PR2-3 for months, Google just got round to telling you - therefore you won't see any change in rankings cos of this update as you will already be where Google thinks you should be based on the links coming into your site and all the other ranking factors.

That's my take on PR anyway.

one of my sites went from pr4 to pr3 but the traffic has increased 60% , Page rank is not as important as it use to be....

Google updated the little green bar because people haven't been talking about it as much for a long time.

An update at this stage will place a lot of fake importance on it again.

Main went up to PR3 and lost traffic again.

Other sites that gained did nothing.

My PR0 sites do better than my big ones of late

So what does this mean... it means that the panda and penguin filters where probably not working as well as expected because they were penalizing sites with PR and leaving sites with 0 alone.

Now we all have PR and I say... HERE COMES ANOTHER ALGO THAT DOES CHANGE A LOT!

When would be the best time for that....?

Wait I know, just before all the companies think they are going to rank for x-mas gifts are going to get sunk and they will HAVE to buy adwords.

Matt Cutts said "no way this would happen before the new year"

If you know Google and their propaganda then you should read "that is going to happen before Christmas"

I predict a storm is on the horizon.

I think it means that the little green bar and the number that goes with it is just a little green bar with a number.

It is also one of Google's GREATEST conversation pieces they ever could possibly have developed.

I have a domain which I have disallowed googlebot from crawling, indexing and archiving.. Google still gave it a pr1. Go figure

Google does not look at your own domain to check your PR. They look at other domains that have a link to your website. That is how PR is calculated.
