High suggest WP-Rocket.
High suggest WP-Rocket.
A few tips:
1. use a fast litespeed server with litespeed cache
2. activate gzip
3. serve images in modern formats (webp)
4. lazy load for images
5. 365 days cache for images and static resources
6. minify/concatenate js and css files
7. minify html
8. use font-display:swap on fonts
9. defer/async unessential js
Hope that helps a little bit.

Excellent advice.
However, it seems most members asking for help to speed up their site, wouldn't have a clue how to implement these recommendations. Most use way too many plugins; even for the most simplest of tasks which, instead, can be done with a few lines of coding. Their images are way too large in Kb size, or they simply use a large image and reduce the size with "width" height" attributes.
Way too many speed problems which are not optimized to begin with. And, there lays the BIG issue.
I guess you might be right
Anyways, i am here, if anybody need help with speed optimization. I am doing wp speed optimization since 2005.
I agree with universal4, slow website mostly are the cause of slow hosting and heavy images. Check your website for those.
I have tried a large number of pro plugins as well as free plugins, but I have achieved the best results with the WP Rocket PRO plugin.
I've recently switched to Cloudflare and I wish I've done it a long time ago. In comparison with my host's CDN and litespeed cache + lite speed image optimization is times faster. No extra plugins, no external strings, but it comes with the price of 20$ a month (Pro plan, the rest are a lot more expensive).
I've used the above setup for years, so when I've got the cloud recommendation I hesitated a bit, but once I gave it a try, doubt I'd ever be going back to anything else. You can check my speeds and stats with w/e tool you want, you'd see they are great even though my DOM size is huuge.
Great metrics on GTmetrix. Cloudflare + fastest wp theme in our niche = good choice and awesome result!
8. use font-display:swap on fonts
This might be a stupid question (and it probably is) but can anyone give me the code to make this happen? Been reading up on it today - kind of
get it - but not found any site that actually says the code with the correct { whatever
You should use WP rocket! This will help you a lot
I agree with everyone who recommended wp Roket. A great plugin if configured correctly. If you activate all the functions to disable javascript, jQuery, then the site can stop displaying any animation, whoever is lucky. Therefore, be careful. But it increases speed superbly.

WP Smush.it is also suitable as an image compression plugin.
EWWW Image Optimizer is also easy to use.
I can understand a site which is 99% automated using SmushIT etc., but really if your hands on, then one should be spending a little bit of extra time optimizing the size of their images. I've seen site using 1, 2 and even 3Meg images.
Using width/height to reduce an image's dimension, doesn't reduce the size of the file. Hence, the browser is still download it all.
Most WP sites need a a few plugins. However, when your using 20, 30, 40, 50, especially on shared hosting, then your doing it ALL wrong!
Maybe my sites are just fast because I came from an era when, internet was 56Kbits/sec. At those speeds, everything has to be optimised. Keep in mind, not everyone has high-speed-broadband these days
WP Rocket is great - but I had to stop using it as we had some issues with it affecting cache buckets and geotargeting. Switched to PerfMatters and it's fantastic - highly recommend checking it out.

Hi!
WP Rocket -is the best option.
I think it's more important to simplify the code than plugins.
Adding more plugins can have the opposite effect.
I myself use WP Rocket on most of my project since it's both easy to use and very efficient. But there's a lot of good free alternatives as well, like WP fastest cache, W3 total cache or LiteSpeed (very on efficient NGINX servers)
