Default Bet at Home Affiliates - Decreasing % to 5%

Hi, got this email from Bet at Home Affiliates today:

    Dear Affiliate,

we have unfortunately seen that during the last couple of months your advertising activities declined considerably.

This is something we regret as we value all of our partners, especially the ones to be considered as long-term affiliates.

Our intention and business approach is to intensify co-operations rather than seeing prior fruitful co-operations in a continuous level of decreasing results. It is important to mention that we need you to show a certain level of activity, otherwise we cannot obtain a minimum level of 30 %-share.

We would like to invite you to push your traffic and increase your numbers of NDAs (new depositing customers) again until 31st January 2019 (observation period). We think that the wide range of products bet-at-home.com offers for your customers as well as the strong brand will make this an easy task for you. Thus said, we need to see whether you are still considering our brand with focus within your advertising strategies.

In February 2019, we will review your results and let you know whether you were able to get back to your average number of NDAs from the past during the observation period, otherwise, we will reduce your current commission to a level of 5%.

We are absolutely certain that you can get back to your acquisition level from the past, as we believe in the quality and amount of players which you’ve sent so far.

We are definitively here to support you on this way. Simply get in touch with us if you have specific requirements or any special thoughts (creative materials, acquisition tools, questions).

Basically they are blackmailing you. Doesn't give you any confidence moving forward at all. You could send them traffic for the next 3 month's and they could still reduce you after that. Pathetic really.

Amazed how certain brands have no idea how to deal with their customers. Plenty of way to motivate affiliates into sending more traffic.

Yes, you right, they don't know how to behave with their affiliates. This one of the reasons I've stopped working with them, I didn't like their arrogant attitude.

Anyway, I haven't planned to promote them in the near future. This email certainly is going to bury any chance to promote them also in the far future.

I've had nothing but smooth sailing with BAH since starting to work with them this year but seeing stuff like this gives me serious pause, from ANY BRAND. They didn't even include a benchmark or quota - just implied it had to be as much as you used to send, and that makes me wonder where the bar really is set. Hopefully they comment here that this was a mistake or at least mistakenly communicated.

In a worst case scenario, at least it's a full year heads up unlike the effective immediately stuff I've seen from some other operators. That seems workable and reasonable - meaning if BAH is going to pursue bad policies like this, at least they do it reasonably.

Totally agree with the above comment - it's like how some people don't know how to be parents, why not try incentives and positive approaches to incentivizing more traffic? Why not have conversations about target markets, better placements, what it would take to increase promotion - etc, I just don't get it.

Hate to see this - hope the financial impact on you / your company is very minor.

I got the same email, even though I've never actively promoted them.

I think I've only ever sent them one customer and yet they still talk about getting "back to your acquisition level from the past"

Looks like a blanket email to reduce all the affiliates that are not in the top X%... I never worked with them but dig up the old terms and see if they can do this to start with. Then let them know you will advertise as rogue on your main sites but still promote for the 5% on small ones.

tal84s, It would be a real shame to see this happen to anyone. I would personally cut my losses and move on. There's plenty of other programs out there that deserves your traffic instead. It's impossible to control how many new depositors you can bring in for them each month.

It's about past traffic, not about future traffic.

If 30% (for example) lifetime is agreed then that should be respected. Both 30% and lifetime are related to the customer, not to the activity of the affiliate.

They are following the devils path.. what a shame.

The real problem with programs that are doing this is not the T&C change or the, 5% figure, which is "ok" if it's applying on new affiliates or if the affiliate signup originally under the tier commission model.
The problem is starting when the affiliate already have a deal, usually a flat 30%-50% rev-share and suddenly after he sent valuable players and from any reason decided to drive players to another brand (because affiliates are also a business after all), then he realised that the deal was changed for him for the commission from existing players which we he was sending under his good rev-share deal which was promised him for life are effected as well. This is fraud and cheating in my opinion and unfortunately many programs are using this "tool" to hurt affiliates where it's most painful

I can only recommend to all to have every rev-share deal agreed in writing and get them sign on it, otherwise you'll not have a say.. and they will forget it pretty fast when the affiliate manager will be replaced...

It's unfair and quite predatory to blame affiliates for a decrease in the number of new depositing players. Bad luck if your site was pushed down in the serps and you lost most of your traffic, or if a specific market that you were targeting was locked out of the casino, or a payment issue affected your signups, etc etc. If an "exceptional cookie runtime of 60 days" isn't helping increase affiliate generated signups, then maybe featuring bigger and more exciting bonuses and promotional offers might do the trick. In other words, it's not always the affiliate's fault.

Yeah and that too! it's so complicated to know why sometimes you'r pushed down... this is why the new T&C should never effect past deals/players.

In my opinion, it's not relevant who's fault is it, just need to honor old agreements and make a fair deal, rev-share is rev-share.

    World is not fair.
However, in this situation it is ridiculous what they think... For many affiliates, this is the exact reason - BAH focused on a specific region, mostly Central/Eastern Europe. Then they started rejecting players from half of the countries in this region.

They never behaved fairly. When I actually was sending them a lot of players, they blocked my account and wanted to know every single detail about how I generate traffic. After I stop, they send email about decrease of revshare to 5% if I don't do..... actually I even have no ******* idea what exactly they want me to do because they don't state it.

Now they are surprised their numbers are dropping?
I assume the Poland ban will hit them hard and they will go bancrupt soon.

They were always ****. I will just repeat myself, but they deserve it in every thread. I started to promote them, I already got commission of few hundred Euros. They asked me questions afterwards, wanted to know details and they refused to pay me the revenue I already got with them until I will answer their questions. I would have zero problems to reply, but they held me hostage with commission that was already earned. I told them to **** off.

This is the worst thing, I hate when this happened... a red flag indeed
